The community of Mount Pleasant, SC is located about two hours east of Charlotte, NC and about an hour south of Raleigh, NC. Mount Pleasant is a small area located on the eastern shores of Wilsonville Lake in eastern Colliwood SC. Mount Pleasant is conveniently close to Davidson College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the colleges of Eastern Carolina University and the schools of Flat Rock, Western Carolina University and the University of Virginia at College Chapel. The center serves men, women and children who are struggling with the issues of addiction. People at the halfway house to live in group homes called “houses” that are available to them when their families cannot accommodate them due to a variety of circumstances. These people come and go from the center on an as-needed basis. The services provided by the halfway house, also include drug or alcohol abuse recovery, case management, case detox, employment services, financial assistance, parenting programs, and life skills development. The other residential sober living center is the Friends House, which is a twelve-step facility. Services provided by the Friends House include but are not limited to, medication, alcohol and drug abuse education, treatment for common problems, crisis hot lines, supervision, legal aid, parenting programs, and life skills development. The other services include but are not limited to, medical care, social services, legal assistance, supervision, life skills development, detoxification, employment services, and referral to local treatment facilities.
