Drug rehabilitation is also commonly known as rehab. When you attend rehab, you can either choose an inpatient or outpatient program. Inpatient drug rehabilitation is the most intense treatment you can receive, because you live on site and participate in a treatment program 24/7. You’ll undergo daily therapy sessions, both individual and group, and you’ll likely participate in other healthy activities like meditation or mindfulness, art therapy. You’ll sleep and take your meals at the rehab center and abide by a strict schedule to make sure that you stay sober and healthy. Most inpatient rehab programs take a few months to complete.
Outpatient rehab is less intense than inpatient rehab because you aren’t required to live there. You may attend a day program or daily sessions with a counselor or a group so that you can stay on track with your recovery. Outpatient rehab is a great option if you don’t need the rigorous schedule of an inpatient program, and still want to retain some independence.
